Illustrator: Amanda Dow

A Calgary native, Amanda Dow trained as an archaeologist at the University of Calgary and continues to work on a regular basis on archaeological digs throughout Alberta. Her natural artistic talent found expression in interpretive drawings of the sites she encountered.

Sacagawea: The Making of A Legend is Amanda's second book as a primary artist, the first was Blackships / Thanadelthur (Young Hereos of North America Vol. 1) Both books required much archival research into the colorful and distinctive world of early north american cultures and American, French and British colonial costumes. The result are colorful, lively and descriptive illustrations that draw readers into a world so little seen.
